A Recent Find

Several unpublished writing of the late Sir Arthur Conan Doyle are reported to have been found among manuscripts in a cardboard hat-box which the author had placed in a bank at Crowborough, Sussex, in 1922. The manuscripts are said to include a one-act play entitled The Crown Diamond, several youthful essays and lectures, including one on hypnotism and another on a schoolboy's opinion of drink, and "Some Personalia About Mr. Sherlock Holmes." According to Mr. John Dickson Carr, who is writing a new biography of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, one of the characters in the one-act play is Colonel Sebastian Moran, the protégé and assistant of Moriarty. The documents are now in the possession of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's family.
