Dear Major Pond
My wife is in very weak health and I can't leave her too long. You must look upon this as an experimental trip entirely. If it promises well we can try again.
For this time the lectures are quite a secondary thing with me. It is the country and the people that I wish to see. If I should seem to make any hit I had rather return another year. Don't fix anything after Dec 7th or so. I must be in Davos for Xmas.
Let me have my fixtures as soon as you can.
