From The Arthur Conan Doyle Encyclopedia
Fictional character.
In the Sherlock Holmes stories
Ezekiah Hopkins is a fake character invented by John Clay and William Morris.
- John Clay and William Morris told to Jabez Wilson that the death of Ezekiah Hopkins, member of The Red-Headed League living at Lebanon, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., was allowing the recruiting of a new red-headed member to the League and thus he was the perfect candidate to occupy this place. (REDH, 62)
