John Ferrier was a pioneer, farmer and Mormon who was murdered by Joseph Stangerson.
- John Ferrier and Lucy, that he adopted (1672), were the only survivors of 21 pioneers in the Great Alkali Plain (1610), rescued by the Mormons (1612), which he embraced the faith.
- Years later, Brigham Young told Lucy to choose a Mormon husband within a month, either Joseph Stangerson or Enoch J. Drebber. As the threats became more urgent, an escape was planned for the last day of the ultimatum. Unfortunately, the attempt failed. John Ferrier was killed. (1890)
