Letter
My dear Smith
I still adhere to my statement. The middle day of the Century is Jan 1st 1850. The Century ends with Dec 31, 1899.
There were a good many errors in that first instalment. Something about 'wild goats — be goats' which I could make nothing of. In that last proof it should be Virgil not Hôrace for 'Sub tegmine fagi'. [1]
- Yours very truly
