Lucy was an American pioneer adopted John Ferrier (1672).
- Lucy and John Ferrier and Lucy were the only survivors of 21 pioneers in the Great Alkali Plain (1610), rescued by the Mormons (1612), which they embraced the faith.
- Years later, Brigham Young told Lucy to choose a Mormon husband within a month, either Joseph Stangerson or Enoch J. Drebber. But she was in love with a Gentile (non-Mormon) named Jefferson Hope. As the threats became more urgent, an escape was planned for the last day of the ultimatum. Unfortunately, the attempt failed. John Ferrier was killed and Lucy was forced to marry Enoch J. Drebber.
