Letter

London, August 3rd, 1916.

Sir A. Conan Doyle,

Hotel Victoria,
S.W.

Sir,

In reply to your letter, we have very much pleasure in sending you per Parcel Post to Windlesham, Crowborough, a Dayfield Patent Body Shield. The steel of which it is made is similar to that used by the British Government for Body Shields which we are supplying. We also enclose you a few copies of testimonials we have received from users of this shield.

We shall be very pleased indeed to hear the result of any test which you may make.

We understand that the Government have put this shield to a very severe test, and it has fully fulfilled all the conditions claimed for it.

We are, Sir,
Yours obediently,

p.p. THE WHITFIELD MANUFACTURING CO., LTD.,

Samuel J. Joel
Manager
