- Wiggins was a young boy and the spokesman of the street Arabs (1411) named by Sherlock Holmes the "Baker Street division of the detective police force" (1045).
The Sign of Four (1888)
- Sherlock Holmes mentioned Wiggins as his "dirty little lieutenant" and the leader of his gang (1450).
- Sherlock Holmes asked Wiggins and his band to find the whereabouts of a steam launch called the Aurora (1584).
