Joss Ackland (29 february 1928 - 19 november 2023) was a British actor who played various sherlockian roles on TV: he was Hon. Philip Green in 1965 in TV episode [[The Disappearance of Lady Frances Carfax (TV episode 1965)|The Disappearance of Lady Frances Carfax]] of the TV series [[Sherlock Holmes (TV series 1964-1968)|Sherlock Holmes]] with [[Douglas Wilmer]] as Sherlock Holmes ; he was the USA President in 1977 in TV movie [[The Strange Case of the End of Civilization as We Know It]] ; he was Jephro Rucastle in 1985 in TV episode [[The Copper Beeches (TV episode 1985)|The Copper Beeches]] of the TV series [[Sherlock Holmes (TV series 1984-1994)|Sherlock Holmes]] with [[Jeremy Brett]] as Sherlock Holmes ; and he was King Edward in 1992 in TV movie [[Incident at Victoria Falls]] with [[Christopher Lee]] as Sherlock Holmes.

He also played Grubber in 1973 in the TV episode [[The Mystery of the Amber Beads]] of the TV series [[The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes]].
