Brothers Adolph and David Posener were associates until 1877. When David left the partnership, the trademark remained ''A.D.P.'' but the hallmark on silver work was ''A.P.'' imprint. Note: Adolph Posener middle name was David.

A.D.P. was usually mistaken for Alfred Dunhill Pipe, which did not start making pipes before 1904, and never used any ADP trademark.
