[[William Gillette]], the famous actor-dramatist, will appear in his new stage version of the tales of [[Sherlock Holmes]], by [[Arthur Conan Doyle|Dr. A. Conan Doyle]], at the new Wieting this and to-morrow evenings. In his novel, "[[A Study in Scarlet]]," [[Arthur Conan Doyle|Dr. Doyle]] describes [[Sherlock Holmes|Holmes]] as follows: "His very person and appearance were such as to attract the attention of the most casual observer. In height he was rather over six feet and so excessively lean that he seemed to be considerably taller. His eyes were sharp and piercing, and his thin, hawklike nose gave his whole expression an air of alertness and decision. His chin, too, had the prominence and squareness which marked the man of determination, and his hands were possessed of extraordinary delicacy of touch."

In physical appearance [[William Gillette|Mr. Gillette]] realizes the description of the famous detective, and his ability as an actor will further heighten the illusion. The production, which is made by Manager Charles Frohman, will be an elaborate one in the acting strength of the company and in the scenic effects.
