Sir, — I fear there is no pleasing Professor Whitney. If he says that "we have the least liberal divorce laws in the world" is not a fair and accurate paraphrase of "all Christian nations, including our fellow-subjects in Scotland, are more liberal than ourselves in dealing with this subject," then he and I talk a different language, and discussion is impossible. Naturally the word "Christian" is omitted from the first, as the whole question is concerned with Christian spirit and tradition.<br />
