Sir, — I fear there is no pleasing Professor Whitney. If he says that &amp;quot;we have the least liberal divorce laws in the world&amp;quot; is not a fair and accurate paraphrase of &amp;quot;all Christian nations, including our fellow-subjects in Scotland, are more liberal than ourselves in dealing with this subject,&amp;quot; then he and I talk a different language, and discussion is impossible. Naturally the word &amp;quot;Christian&amp;quot; is omitted from the first, as the whole question is concerned with Christian spirit and tradition.&lt;br /&gt;
