By the courtesy of the proprietors of "The Cornhill Magazine," "Belgravia," "Chambers's Journal," and "Cassell's Saturday Magazine," the Editor is able to include several striking stories, written from material picked up in various countries by a member of a distinguished family, — Mr. A. Conan Doyle, the grandson of H. B. and nephew of the late Richard Doyle. His contributions are distinguished by the &Delta; affixed to them. They introduce some curious examples of the power of superstition, and a singular mixture of truth and error, as in the Diamond Story of the Sassassa Valley. <br />
