On Saturday, shortly after 11 p.m., a serious affray occurred in King's-road, Southsea. It seems that several roughs, who have given a good deal of annoyance in the neighbourhood of late, forced a quarrel upon the assistant of Mr. Budd, grocer. Mr. Budd came out to the help of the young man, but the two would probably have been seriously maltreated had it not been for the intervention of Mr. Malone, of 5, Hampshire-terrace, who turned the tables upon the assailants. In the struggle which ensued, however, Mr. Malone sustained a severe fall, and was so injured that ho had to be carried into Mr. Budd's shop. [[Arthur Conan Doyle|Dr. Conan Doyle]], of Bush Villas, was promptly upon the spot, and pronounced Mr. Malone's leg to be broken just above the ankle. The limb was at once set and [[Arthur Conan Doyle|Dr. Doyle]] conveyed the injured man home to his residence, where he is now understood to be doing well. At least one of the assailants has been captured.
