Sir, — It should be stated that among the flint figures furnished by Mr. Clark there are many markings which closed reproduce numerals and alphabetical letters.

These seem to me to complicate a problem which was sufficiently complicated already, since, if they are not purely accidental, they would point a modern cause for the markings.

The freak or accidental explanation of the most obvious, but when we note this extreme accuracy of the detail in the outlines it also presents serious difficulties.
