The funeral of [[Sir Arthur Conan Doyle]] took place at his home, Windlesham, Crowborough, yesterday afternoon. The service at the grave-side in his garden was conducted by the Rev. Brayton Thomas, who was assisted by the Rev. C. C. Angell (brother-in-law). The chief mourners were [[Jean Elizabeth Leckie|Lady Conan Doyle]] (widow), Mr. [[Adrian Conan Doyle]] (son), Miss [[Mary Louise Conan Doyle|Mary Doyle]] and Miss [[Lena Annette Jean Conan Doyle|Jean Doyle]] (daughters), Mrs. Foley, Mrs. Oldham, Miss Oldham, Mr. [[John Doyle]], and Air. Francis Doyle. Mr. [[Denis Conan Doyle|Denis Doyle]] (son) was unable to be present owing to indisposition. Among others present were:—

Sir Gilbert Parker (representing the Authors' Club). Sir Frank Newnes, Mr. Lacon Watson, Mr. Algernon Rose (secretary, Authors' Club), Sir Robert Gower, M.P., Mr. and Mrs. Brittaine, Mr. and Mrs. Murray. Mrs. Ashton Jonson, Mrs. Robertson Roger, Dr. Lamond, Miss M. Phillimore (representing London Spiritualist Alliance), Captain Desmond Tuck, Colonel Belk, Mr. John Glynn, Mrs. Foster, Dr. Valentine Griffin, Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Plunkett-Checkermain, Mrs. Wesley Adams, Mr. W. C. F. Anderson, Mrs. Kalway (representing B.S.L.U.), Mr. J. B. Campling (of the Bromley Psychio Circles, Mrs. St. Clair Stobart (Spiritualist Community), Mr. Hannen Swaffer, Viscount and Viscountess Molesworth, and the Rev. G. Vale Owen.

A Union Jack was flown at half-mast at the Beacon Golf Clubhouse, of which club [[Sir Arthur Conan Doyle|Sir Arthur]] was a former captain.
