George Desylla Zucco (11 january 1888 - 28 may 1960) was a British actor and director, who played [[Professor Moriarty]] in [[The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (movie 1939)|The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes]] in 1939 with [[Basil Rathbone]] as [[Sherlock Holmes]]. Production had originally thought about actor [[Lionel Atwill]] for the role, whom was James Mortimer in the previous movie ([[The Hound of the Baskervilles (movie 1939)|The Hound of the Baskervilles]]), but they preferred Zucco. Atwill will have his "revenge" in 1942 as he will be Moriarty in [[Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon]]. In the same year 1943, George Zucco, will be the villain again, but as Heinrich Hinckel aka Richard Stanley in [[Sherlock Holmes in Washington]] with [[Basil Rathbone]] again. <br />

In 1938, Zucco also played Dr. Waxton (with X, but not related to Watson) in ''Vacation from Love'' with [[Reginald Owen]].<br />
