John Astin (born 30 march 1930) is an American actor, director, writer and producer wellknown for playing Gomez Addams in The Addams Family series between 1964 and 1966.<br />

In the first season, episode 23: [[Thing is Missing]] (1965), he played Gomez dressed as a [[Sherlock Holmes]] to find the ''Thing'' which has disappeared from its box. <br />
