Lynch was the pen name of Emily Medora Murdock Van Deventer (16 january 1853 - 1914) an American writer. At the time, it was not convenient for women to write mystery/crime novels so she published under the name of her husband, Lawrence L. Lynch. In 1887, she was married with Dr. Abraham Van Deventer but she kept her first pen name.
