My dear Smith

I will let you have the rest of the copy in a day or two.

Smith, Elder & Co. will no doubt want to publish about the end of November 1906, but I conclude that will not affect you.

An author's opinion of his own work is not out of place in the literary gossip of a newspaper, but it is, I think, out of place as an advertisement.
