This letter was written by [[Denis Percy Stewart Conan Doyle]], second son of [[Arthur Conan Doyle]], on 12 june 1943, from Wardman Park Hotel, Washington D.C. (USA), to Mr. Jordan of the U.S. Office of War Information (O.W.I.) about permission to use his father's writings in radio broadcasts. 1 page, 8x10 1/4.<br />

Dear Mr Jordan,<br />
<br />
I have to thank you for your letter of the 7th instant, the contents of which are carefully noted.<br />
<br />
On behalf of my father's Estate, I am glad to give the permission requested by O.W.I. It is, of course, clearly understood that the material concerned will only be used for the specific purpose indicated in your letter.<br />
<br />
Incidentally, I have shown your letter to my friend Mr Elmer Davis, Director of War Information in Washington. I knew that he would be interested in the matter, in view of the fact that he is one of the original founder members, with Alexander Woollcott and [[Christopher Morley]], of the [[The Baker Street Irregulars|Baker Street Irregulars]], which is the parent body of the many hundreds of Sherlock Holmes Societies scattered all over the United States.<br />
