Dear Mrs. Gribble

I need not say that I am deeply grieved at your trouble. I wrote at once to the American Ambassador here to do all that he can and told him that he would have the gratitude of all authors. You must console yourself by reflecting that ba all accounts the prisoners are not badly treated at Ruhleben. I have written to Mr Hering of the Authors Society to see if he can do anything.

Yours faithfully

A. Conan Doyle

You would be wise to return to England & await better times.
