== In the Sherlock Holmes stories ==

Mary Morstan was the client of [[Sherlock Holmes]] in [[The Sign of Four]] ([[SIGN]], {{refcanon|SIGN|195}}).

* She was born in 1861, as she was seventeen when she came to Edinburgh in 1878 ([[SIGN]], {{refcanon|SIGN|228}}).

* At the end of [[The Sign of Four]] case, Mary has accepted [[Dr. Watson]] as a husband in prospective ([[SIGN]], {{refcanon|SIGN|2817}}).

* When seated at breakfast at his house, Watson and his wife (Mary Morstan), received a telegram from [[Sherlock Holmes]] ([[BOSC]], {{refcanon|BOSC|1}}).

* Watson rushed upstairs (of his house) to explain the matter to his wife (Mary Morstan) and joined [[Sherlock Holmes]] upon the doorstep ([[STOC]], {{refcanon|STOC|58}}).

* She probably died (unknown cause) between 1891 and 1894, as Watson was in bereavement in 1894 ([[EMPT]], {{refcanon|EMPT|188}}).
