Robert Stephens (14 july 1931 - 12 november 1995) was a British actor and producer who played [[Sherlock Holmes]] in 1970, in [[Billy Wilder]]'s movie [[The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (movie 1970)|The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes]] with [[Colin Blakely]] as [[Dr. Watson]] and [[Christopher Lee]] as [[Mycroft Holmes]]. <br />

In 1976, he also played [[Sherlock Holmes (play 1976)|Sherlock Holmes]] on stage with [[Ronald Bishop]] as [[Dr. Watson]] in the adaptation of [[William Gillette]]'s play. He was then replaced by [[Leonard Nimoy]] for the beginning of the American tour.<br />
