Sir, — An omission, which is no doubt accidental — since the proofs were correct — has been made in my letter, which has weakened and altered my point. The real serious abuse is that such criticism may not he honest criticisms, but may, consciously or not, be influenced by commercial considerations. That a critic of many voices and numerous noms-de-plume should also have an interest in the success of certain books is, I hold, a scandal.&lt;br /&gt;
