He was known as &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;quot;America&amp;#039;s Sherlock Holmes&amp;quot;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; and earned fame for having conducted private investigations into a number of notable incidents. From 22 august 1921 to 10 may 1924, Burns served as the director of the Bureau of Investigation (BOI), predecessor to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).&lt;br /&gt;
