These teams tried conclusions at Bar End on Thursday, when Winchester gained a very creditable victory by 49 runs on the first innings. Winchester scored 133 (M. Tompkinson 30 not out, S. Aylward 28, H. Langdon 21, and Elliott 17 being the chief contributors). The Rovers scored 84 (of which Johnson made 27, Pillans 18, and Ferris 16). Going in a second time Winchester ran up the respectable total of 130 for five wickets (A. G. Bather 51, S. Aylward 22, R. Bonham-Carter 22, and H. Langdon not out 19). In the bowling department for Winchester Elliott took five wickets for 24, Tomkinson and martin taking two each for 35 and 4 runs respectively; while for the Rovers Harris and Pillans were the most successful.
