Donohue, Henneberry & Co.

Donohue, Henneberry & Co. was an American book publishing company based in Chicago, founded by two bookbinders, Michael A. Donohue (of Cox & Donohue) and William P. Henneberry around 1880. In 1890 the firm launched a series of inexpensive editions of popular novelists, concentrated on libraries (i.e., sets and series).
The Chicago Lakeside Directory had the following addresses for Donohue, Henneberry & Co. : [1]
- 1881 : 182 Monroe
- 1890-1891 : 407-425 Dearborn
- 1892 : 415 and 407-425 Dearborn
- 1894 : 407-429 Dearborn (3rd floor)
- 1896-1898 : 415 Dearborn (3rd floor)
- 1899 : 407-429 Dearborn
In 1900, the imprint Donohue Brothers (407-429 Dearborn) was also used. Perhaps, a short-lived successor to Donohue, Henneberry & Co. from which M. A. Donohue emerged. Donohue bought out Henneberry around 1900-1901 and began using M. A. Donohue & Co. imprint.
Between 1890 and 1900, the company published 6 novels and at least 3 short stories written by Arthur Conan Doyle.
