In this match, which was opened yesterday at the Saffrons, Eastbourne, play proved of a one-sided character. Going in first on a difficult wicket, Incogniti were disposed of in an hour and a ball for 47, only two of the batsmen obtaining double figures, while four failed to score, Dr. Conan Doyle and Wheeler bowled through-out the innings, the famous novelist capturing six wickets for 34 runs, and Wheeler the other four for 13 runs. Eastbourne knocked up a capital score. A. S. Francis, W. J. Ford, and Joe Vine acquitting themselves particularly well. The first-named's not out total of 94 included one 5, thirteen 4's, and six 3's. Present score:—
