"Hobgoblin" Law is an article published in the Daily Mail on 14 september 1928, including a part of a speech by Arthur Conan Doyle.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Complaint
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, at the Congress of the International Federation of Spiritualists at South Kensington last night, referred to the recent prosecution affecting Spiritualism.
He said that Spiritualists had to turn themselves into a political party, and until their grievances were set right they should disregard other questions. He added:
When our grievances are remedied we can become Socialists, Conservatives, or anything we like. I will organise upon the side of whatever party will do justice to us.
With our 500 Spiritualist churches in this country we should be able to sweep away the Vagrancy Act and "Hobgoblin" acts.
Sir Arthur said that death was not the final obstacle and could be penetrated. If Spiritualists could only get their knowledge across they could get the whole human race singing in the garden.
