Le Chien des Baskerville (The Hound of the Baskervilles) is a French radio drama, in the series "Faits Divers", adapted by Thomas Narcejac, first aired on 5 july 1955 on the Chaîne Parisienne, starring Henri Guisol as Sherlock Holmes and Jean Bolo as Dr. Watson. 30 min.

This is an adaptation of the Arthur Conan Doyle's novel: The Hound of the Baskervilles (1901).

The drama was preceded by the reading of a letter from Adrian Conan Doyle sent to the producers of the show about the links between his father and France :

« I am pleased to take this opportunity to say a few words about my father's ties to France and the French nation. I don't think it is known in France that my father was partly of French descent through his grandmother, Marianne Conan, the last survivor of the old Breton branch of that name. Throughout his life, my father's love for France was expressed in all forms of his activity. And the most popular of the heroes he created was none other than the famous Brigadier Etienne Gérard of the Hussards of Conflans at the time of the Napoleonic epic. My father's great love for France, which he considered the cradle of world culture, was not only expressed in his literary works but also on many other occasions. He himself was very sensitive to the friendship that the French showed him. During the war of 1914-1918, when the Allied newspapers were giving an inaccurate picture of France's efforts, the French government asked the British government to send my father to the French front as a war correspondent so that, through the pen of a man respected by both nations, England would at last be informed in a very accurate manner of France's heroic defence against the invader. I do not want to end without once again recalling the part of my father's work which refers to France. In England, it was through the texts of novels such as "The White Company," "Sir Nigel," "The Refugees," and "The Adventures of Brigadier Gerard," that many schoolchildren began to understand the true greatness of France. A number of tributes have already been paid to the memory of my father in several countries on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his death. In essence, I want to say today that there is none that he would have been more sensitive to, that would have caused him greater joy, and of which he would have been more proud, than the one you are paying him today by showing that his memory is still present in this country that he loved so deeply. » [1]

And the show was followed by a short biography of Arthur Conan Doyle in the sequence "Petit courrier des amateurs de mystères et d'aventures" (Short notice for amateurs of mysteries and adventures) by Germaine Beaumont and Pierre Régent.
