My dear Smith

I was about to write to you, for I was surprised and a little worried that so statement was made at the end of the history as to the causes why it is stopped. Your readers will surely think me a lunatic, for first I alter the whole style of the history without a word of explanation and there I stop it completely also without a word. In each case I left to your editorial care.

I am very sorry about the Sherlock complication. I'll think it over during the day, but my creepy seems all gone this overwork upon the history and my mind is not clear. On the whole I fear I shall have nothing. I will write again.
