This letter was written by Arthur Conan Doyle ca. november 1893 to John Reid. He expressed his congratulations to the author after reading A Chronicle of Small Beer: Sketches of Boyhood published in 1893.

Letter

My dear Mr. Reid

Let me congratulate you warmly on your little book which is just as good as it could be. I have never read any better fresher sketches of boy-life. I am sure that you have the full equipment which will carry you to fame.

I lecture at Glasgow on Nov 23 — if I am not dumb with talking by that date, I should be glad if you could come to the lecture & then meet me afterwards.

Yours faithfully
A Conan Doyle.
