Letter to Mary Jakeman about her wages
Miss Mary Jakeman
I am writing for Lady Conan Doyle whose confinement was yesterday.
I think that you will probably suit the situation very well. If you could come down on Monday I would pay your expenses and you could see Lady Doyle or her mother, returning in the afternoon.
A train leaves Victoria for Groombridge at 9.10. If you could get that I would send the motor to meet it at Groombridge at 10.40. Send me a card if that will suit you.
The wages begin at £26. The servants find their own beer or wine.
