This letter was written by Arthur Conan Doyle to Robert Falcon Scott, from Undershaw, Hinhead, Haslemere, regarding his membership to the Sheringham Golf Club. Robert Falcon Scott was elected a member of Sheringham Golf Club in 1906, apparently with the assistance of Arthur Conan Doyle. [1]

Captain Robert Falcon Scott CVO (6 june 1868 - c. 29 march 1912) was a Royal Navy officer and explorer who led two expeditions to the Antarctic regions: the Discovery expedition of 1901–1904 and the ill-fated Terra Nova expedition of 1910–1913.

Letter

My dear Scott,

Many thanks for your kind note. I shall certainly endeavour to vote for you on the 8th.

With all kind regards,

Yours very truly,

A. Conan Doyle.
