M.C.C. v. Royal Academy

The Sporting Life (15 august 1907, p. 5)

Royal Academy were soundly beaten by M.C.C. at Lord's yesterday, the club winning by 129 runs. Batting first, M.C.C. scored so freely — runs accruing at the rate of 100 an hour — that 327 were totalled for seven wickets, when the innings was declared. Royal Academy made a poor show in response. Appleyard played excellently, driving wonderfully hard and clean. His best hits were a 5, nine 4's, and four 3's. Sir A. Conan Doyle took four wickets for 44. Scores:—
