Norwood v. Chislehurst

The Norwood News (10 june 1893, p. 7)

Played at the Pavilion Grounds on Saturday last, and ended in a thoroughly well-earned victory for Norwood over a stronger batting team. Roe and Montezuma bowled well through-out, as did Pearse for the visitors. Frank Hallam seemed to have got back some of his old form, and appeared well set when given out lbw. The feature of the match was the spirited batting of Grace and H. Featherstone, who put on 33 runs for the last wicket. Montezuma unfortunately fell a victim to an umpire's decision, having played a ball of Pearse's to point, and whilst returning to take up his position for the next ball, his bat slipped out of his hand on to the wicket, and he was given out on appeal.
