Norwood v. Spencer

The Norwood News (30 june 1894, p. 7)

This match was played at the Pavilion Grounds on Saturday last. Norwood batted first, putting together 137 of which number Roe made a faultless score of 72 not out. The visitors on going in began scoring very rapidly and the telegraph recorded 90 runs for only two wickets down, but then followed a collapse and when the last man went in they still wanted 5 runs to win, and this they managed to do after a most exciting finish. Their victory was due to a fine free hitting innings of 63 by A. E. Cox, marred however, by two or three chances which were not accepted. Score:—
