On tuesday 26 march 1889, Arthur Conan Doyle attended and spoke after the lecture "Polynesian Antiquities as a link between the Primitive Civilisations of South-Eastern Asia and America" by Rev. Francis Allen, at the Portsmouth Literary and Scientific Society (PLSS) meeting held in Portsmouth.
