Roy William Neill

Roy William Neill (4 september 1887 - 14 december 1946) was an American director and producer. He was born in San Francisco (despite many biographies which indicates he was born on a boat and that his real name was Roland de Gostrie). He directed and produced 11 sherlockian movies with Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes. He was also co-writer on one of them (The Scarlet Claw).
