This article published in the ''Court Circular'' section of [[The Times]] on 4 november 1907 announced the decoration received by [[Sir Arthur Conan Doyle]] (the Order of the Medjidie) and his wife [[Jean Elizabeth Leckie|Lady Conan Doyle]] (the Order of Nichan-I-Chefakat) from the Ottoman Grand Sultan Abdul Hammid II during their honeymoon in Constantinople.

[[Arthur Conan Doyle|Sir Arthur]] and [[Jean Elizabeth Leckie|Lady Conan Doyle]], who are paying a short visit to Constantinople, attended the Selamlik on Friday. The Sultan decorated [[Arthur Conan Doyle|Sir Arthur]] with the second class of the Medjidieh, an [[Jean Elizabeth Leckie|Lady Conan Doyle]] with the second class of the Nichan-i-Chefakat, thus testifying, says a Reuter telegram, to the interest taken by his Majesty in English literature.
