Smith, Elder & Co.
Smith, Elder & Co. was a british firm of publishers founded by George Smith (1789-1846) and Alexander Elder (1790-1876). In 1859, they published The Cornhill Magazine. The firm began as booksellers and stationers in Fenchurch Street, moving to 65 Cornhill in 1824, and moving to 15 Waterloo Place. It was also involved in agency and banking with a strong Indian connection.
