About photos of Arthur Conan Doyle and relatives (like in A Life in Pictures), the purpose of the ACD Encyclopedia is to :
- help researchers, historians and biographers,
- show a "catalogue" of the existing photos,
- show who owns the photo,
- show where the photo has been already published,
- show where to buy the photo when not in public domain.
