The Edalji Case

The Daily Telegraph (30 january 1907, p. 9)

Letter from the Home Secretary.

To the Editor of "The Daily Telegraph."

Sir — The enclosed letter has been received from the Home Office about the Edalji case. In the face of it, Mr. Edalji and his advisers have, as it seems to me, no choice but to wait patiently and hopefully for the result of this fresh examination of the case. — Yours truly,

ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE.
Undershaw, Hindhead, Surrey, Jan. 29.

[Copy.]

Dear Sir — Mr. Gladstone desires me to acknowledge, with thanks, the receipt of your letter of Saturday's date, with enclosure in Edalji case.

I am to say that the recent developments of his case are being minutely examined, so that it is not possible at the present time, Mr. Gladstone fears, to say when a discussion will have been reached. — I am yours truly,

M. L. Waller.
