The Game's Afoot, or Holmes For The Holidays (2015)

The Game's Afoot, or Holmes For The Holidays is a British play, written by Ken Ludwig and directed by Dario Dalla Costa , performed by The Edinburgh Makars at the Murrayfield Parish Church Centre (Edinburgh, UK) from 6 to 15 august 2015, starring Derek Melon as William Gillette / Sherlock Holmes. 2 hours 30 minutes including two intervals.

Despite the title, there is no characters from the original Sherlock Holmes stories in the plot but the William Gillette character is wearing the usual Sherlock Holmes outfits. The play was published by Samuel French Ltd., and won the 2012 Mystery Writers of America Edgar Allen Poe Awards – Best Play.

Acclaimed actor of the 1930s, William Gillette, invites his Sherlock Holmes co-stars to his eccentric Connecticut mansion for a Christmas Eve celebration. When one of the guests is murdered, Gillette employs the persona of the master detective he's made famous on the stage...
