CAPTAIN WYNYARD AS A BOWLER.

The team got together by the M.C.C. to oppose Wiltshire at Lord's proved altogether too strong for the county, which suffered defeat by an innings and 16 runs. When play ceased on Friday Wiltshire were in a hopeless position, and the only question was whether they could avert the innings defeat. This they failed to do, the match being over at 12.30 on Saturday, with the result as previously stated. In their second innings the visitors had lost five wickets for 68 runs at the close of play on Friday, and on Saturday the other five increased the score by 60 runs, the Wiltshire total being, curiously enough, the same in both innings. When play was resumed on Saturday the bowling of Dennett and Captain Wynyard was too much for the Wilts men. The captain's good-length underhand deliveries often had the batsmen in trouble, as had the wily slows sent up by the Gloucestershire bowler. The former's came out the best analysis (four for 20), Dennett's three costing 16 runs apiece. An incident worthy of note was a capital catch, by Captain Wynyard, who, running from mid-off, by his good judgment brought about the dismissal of Scores anti analysis:
