All the family of [[Sir Arthur Conan Doyle]], the famous novelist and spiritualist, joined him in the rescue of valuable documents and furniture when his home, Bignell House, Bignell Wood, near Southampton, blazed fiercely yesterday. [[Sir Arthur Conan Doyle|Sir Arthur]] had converted an old thatched cottage into a country house, adding a modern wing, and fire broke out in the thatch. The old portion of the house was severely burned and the new wing also suffered damage. ("Daily Mirror" photographs.)
