* Silas Brown was the trainer at the rival Capleton stables, which belong to [[Lord Backwater]] ([[SILV]] {{refcanon|SILV|389}}).

* [[Sherlock Holmes]] described him as a more perfect compound of the bully, coward and sneak ([[SILV]] {{refcanon|SILV|389}}).

* On the morning after [[John Straker]]'s death, Silas Brown discovered [[Silver Blaze]] wandering loose on the moor. Realizing the horse could beat his own entry, [[Desborough]], he hid [[Silver Blaze]] at Capleton to keep him from racing ([[SILV]] {{refcanon|SILV|394}}).

* After [[Sherlock Holmes]] investigated, Silas Brown accepted to keep [[Silver Blaze]] safe and return him in time for the Wessex Cup, fearing exposure ([[SILV]] {{refcanon|SILV|368}}).
