- The Duke of Holdernesse was a powerful British nobleman and former Cabinet minister (PRIO 31), father of Arthur (Lord Saltire) (PRIO 40), and, as later revealed, of James Wilder (PRIO 746).
- He was the sixth Duke, K.G., P.C. Baron Beverley, Earl of Carston, Lord-Lieutenant of Hallamshire since 1900. Married to Edith Appledore, daughter of Sir Charles Appledore, 1888. Owns about two hundred and fifty thousand acres. Minerals in Lancashire and Wales. Address: 44 Carlton House Terrace; Holdernesse Hall, Hallamshire; Carston Castle, Bangor, Wales.
