In the Sherlock Holmes stories

  • Charles Gorot was one of Percy Phelps's colleagues, a young clerk, at the Foreign Office (NAVA 468).
  • He was working late in the same office the night the treaty was stolen (NAVA 120), and because of his French-sounding name and the fact that he stayed behind, the police briefly suspected him (NAVA 300).
  • He was later cleared of suspicion, and nothing was found against him (NAVA 302).
